Bank warns customers of fraudsters posing as fraud center

Sabine State Bank and Trust Company warned customers about sophisticated fraudsters posing as a “fraud center” and contacting individuals by text and phone calls to obtain debit card numbers, PINs and Internet Banking login information.

The bank said the fraudsters may ask for the entire debit card number, the last eight digits of the debit card number or Internet Banking login information. Customers should never provide this information to callers.

The bank said its real fraud center will never ask for a debit card number, PIN or Internet Banking login information. The real fraud center will only ask customers to verify whether transactions are legitimate or fraudulent.

Anyone who is unsure whether a call is legitimate should hang up and call their local branch.

To report a compromised, lost or stolen debit card after hours, call (800) 500-1044.

The bank reminded customers never to provide debit card information, PINs or Internet banking/mobile banking login information to anyone. Sabine State Bank and Trust Company said the bank will not call and request this information.
