The Leesville Rotary Club heard from guest speaker Charles “Chuck” Satterfield during its weekly meeting about a vision to provide housing for homeless residents of Vernon Parish.

Satterfield said his vision is slowly coming to fruition. He has a property site selected and plans to start with 10 pod-type housing units.

He has also spoken with people in key knowledgeable roles and positions within the parish who are willing to lend their expertise. Satterfield is also seeking assistance from churches, businesses and organizations willing to provide financial support or volunteer their time and talents.

The community will operate under the name “Pods of Hope Community.”
