The Town of Simpson is notifying residents about individuals who have been going door to door within the community.
According to town officials, Mayor Vickie Standifer confirmed the individuals are representatives with SWYFT Fiber, the new fiber internet provider in the area.
The mayor said she has spoken with SWYFT management and requested that the community be notified in advance of future door-to-door visits.
Standifer also inquired why the representatives were not wearing SWYFT uniforms or clearly marked SWYFT logo apparel or reflective vests.
Town officials apologized for the inconvenience and reminded residents that if they are hesitant or unsure about anyone at their door, they should not open or answer the door. Residents are encouraged to contact law enforcement if they feel their safety is threatened.
Residents may contact Simpson Police Chief Ronnie Hagan at 337-353-9229 or Mayor Vickie Standifer at 337-208-2055 with any questions or concerns.
