
Volunteers at the Joint Readiness Training Center and Fort Polk were recognized April 23 during the Commanding General’s Volunteer of the Year Awards Dinner.
Over the past year, 242 volunteers contributed a total of 14,341 hours of service, representing an estimated value of nearly $500,000 to the installation.
Maj. Gen. Jason Curl and Command Sgt. Maj. Oracio Pena presented awards during the ceremony, recognizing individuals for their service and contributions.
Honorees included Sgt. Ashley Hernandez of the 32nd Hospital Command as Soldier Volunteer of the Year, Antonio Gonzalez as Military Spouse Volunteer of the Year for work with Religious Support Services, and Carmen Ramos as Civilian Volunteer of the Year for service with the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation.
