LDWF agents locate lost hunter in Vernon Parish

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) enforcement agents successfully located a 73-year-old hunter who became lost in a remote area known as Camp Baker on Oct. 19.

The hunter contacted 911 around 2:30 p.m. after being unable to find his way back to his vehicle. LDWF agents, responding alongside the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office, conducted a search and located him safely around 6:45 p.m. He was then transported back to his vehicle without injury.

LDWF thanked the agents involved for their swift response, including Sgt. James Smith, Sgt. Devin Bryant, Senior Agent Callie Pitre, Agent Kenneth Cheramie, and Agent Michael Rick, whose efforts ensured a safe outcome.
