
The Pride of Pickering Red Devil Marching Band competed in the Louisiana Music Educators Association (LEMA) State marching Band Championships at McNeese State University, in Lake Charles Tuesday afternoon, November 5, 2024.
Under the direction of Mr. Roland Smith, the band received Superior ratings in Color Guard and Overall Band, as well as an Excellent rating in Percussion. Overall, the Percussion and Overall Band scored fourth place in the state. The Color Guard was named State Champions in their class. Congrats, Pickering.
Rosepine’s Purple Pride Band also competed in the LEMA marching Band Festival on Tuesday, finishing ninth out of eleven bands. They earned a Superior rating for the Color Guard.
The Rosepine Band competed earlier in the week at the Golden Tornado Marching Band Festival in Sulphur, one of the largest marching band events in the state. The band scored 1’s in Percussion and Color Guard and 2 in Overall Band. They were named best in their class Color Guard and Overall Band. The Purple Pride Band is under the direction of Mr. Merlon Latham.
