Helicopter Trip Ends Fatally for Kinder Family

A tragic helicopter accident Friday, November 1, near Iowa, Louisiana, claimed the lives of three people aboard the craft.  Authorities were alerted to an aircraft on fire on Hecker Road in Iowa at approximately 9 p.m.  Responders found the burning wreckage in the roadway.  The three people in the aircraft were pronounced deceased.

The victims were identified as 50-year-old Jared Savant, his wife, Tanya, age 35, and their two-year old child.  The family lived in Kinder.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) arrived on scene that night to begin their investigation, assisted by Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s investigators, Ward 8/District 2 Fire Department, and the Louisiana State Police.  The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation, which is ongoing.
