The Joint Readiness Training Center and Ft. Johnson welcomed a new commanding general in ceremonies Thursday, July 11 at Warrior Field.

Command of the installation was presented to Brigadier General Jason A. Curl by Lt. General Stephen G. Smith, FORSCOM Deputy Commanding General and the ceremony’s reviewing officer.

BG Curl recently served as Director of Operations for Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve in Iraq and Syria.  Lt. Gen Smith commented,”BG Curl learned valuable lessons over the past year about coalition warfare, which will help him as he gains the command of this installation and its critical mission.”

Curl thanked Smith and FORSCOM Commander General Andrew Poppas for their trust in his leadership abilities.  He also thanked outgoing Major General David Gardner for his commitment and dedication to Ft. Johnson.

Curl is a 1995 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY.  He previously served as Commander of the Operations Group(COG) at the JRTC and as Deputy Commander-Operations for the 10th Mountain Division at Ft Drum, New York.  Curl has served three combat tours of Afghanistan and two tours in Iraq.
