
The 2024 Pickering Red Devils’ basketball team accomplished a feat the school had not seen since 1996. They made it to the semi-finals of the state basketball tournament.
Tuesday night, March 5, they took their shot against #1 Lakeview and fell short 54-26 in the LHSAA’s March Madness at Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles.
The game began with a low-scoring first quarter as Lakeview took a 9-5 lead. The halftime score was 20-14 Lakeview. The Gators outscored Pickering 19-4 in the third quarter and put the game away when cold shooting Pickering managed just eight points in the 4th quarter.
Ladarius Privitera led Pickering with seven points. Anthony Berry chipped in with six. Pickering was outrebounded 38-25 and committed 23 turnovers to Lakeview’s seven. The 12 points scored in the second half marked the lowest output by Pickering all year.
Pickering finishes the year as the #4 ranked team in Division IV Non-select schools, a record of 25-9, and the district 4-AA championship.
