Funeral services for David Robert Lee Broom Jr., 38, of Leesville, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 23, 2023, in the East Leesville Baptist Church of Leesville with Pastors Wayne and Rose Godfrey officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Leesville under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 23, 2023, from 9:00 A.M – 11:00 A.M in the church.
David Robert Lee Broom Jr. was born on February 7, 1985, to David Sr. and Sandra Broom in Bremerhaven, Germany. He passed from this life on September 16, 2023. He went by many names; husband, father, son, brother, uncle, Poopaw, friend, but most knew him as “Coach Dave”. He made an impact on each life he touched, coaching some of the children in his community for most of their lives. He loved bringing out the best in these young student-athletes. He believed in the kids and continued to support and mentor them even when they were not on his team. David didn’t only want the best for the kids in the community, but he wanted the best for everyone. He had a smile and a laugh that would light up anywhere. He was always being goofy and always ready for a plate, followed by a quick nap. He constantly checked on his people making sure everything and everyone was okay. He loved his family fiercely and his legacy will live on through each person who knows him.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Broom.
He is survived by his beautiful wife, Margie Broom; daughter, Ariel McCoy (Nigel and SaRaii); daughter, Amaya Thomas (D’Ante); sons, Davion Brtek, Antrel Broom and Deandre Brtek; father, David Broom Sr.; sister, Destiny Broom (Josiah); brother, Darius Brock; and countless nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and athletes.
Just remember in everything you do give a 110%.
