Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a fatal crash on Sept. 19 around 9:11 am on Belton Loop. This crash claimed the life of a 28-year-old man from Leesville. 

The initial investigation revealed that a Honda Foreman Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV) was traveling south on Belton Loop.  For reasons still under investigation, the UTV left the roadway and impacted several trees. As a result, the UTV overturned which ejected the driver.

The driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. Routine toxicology samples were obtained and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police also wish to remind UTV operators about the importance of not riding on public roadways with off-road-only type vehicles.  Information about Louisiana State Law regarding UTV operation on public roadways can be found at Louisiana State Legislature LA R.S. Code 299.3.
