Vernon Parish teachers bring new STEM skills to classroom

Vernon Parish School District teachers Lois Spurgeon, Lela Magee, and Rhonda Hampton attended the STEM Energy Camp hosted by Rice University’s Tapia Center at the SOWELA Oakdale campus this summer.

Through funding provided by ExxonMobil, 44 Central Louisiana teachers had the opportunity to collaborate and develop engaging STEM lesson plans for their students.

The knowledge and skills gained through this experience will help prepare Vernon Parish students for continued success in the classroom and in today’s workforce.
