The Vernon Parish Police Jury announced on June 17 the closure of two roads due to damage caused by high water.

According to the police jury, Sugar Lane is closed until further notice. In addition, Churchman Road east of Lonestar Road will remain closed through June 24, 2026, as crews address damage caused by recent high water.

Officials are advising residents who live on Churchman Road east of Lonestar Road to make any necessary arrangements while the roadway remains inaccessible.

The Vernon Parish Police Jury apologized for the inconvenience and thanked residents for their cooperation as repairs and recovery efforts continue.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid the affected areas and seek alternate routes until the roads are reopened.
