Sheriff Sam Craft of the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office announces recent arrests made by VPSO.

April 23, 2026

Nichole Anne Darbonne, age 36, of Ragley, was arrested and charged with one count of Operating a Vehicle While License is Suspended, one count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, one count of Possession of a Schedule II Narcotic, and one count of Headlamps on Motor Vehicles required. Bond has not been set and Darbonne remains in the VPSO jail.

April 24, 2026

Shaun Erik Smith, age 40, of Pitkin, was arrested and charged with one count of Flight from an Officer, one count of Reckless Operation of a Vehicle, one count of Operating a Vehicle while License is Suspended, and one out of jurisdiction Bench Warrant. Bond has not been set and Smith remains in the VPSO jail.

Jacob Phillips, age 36, of Leesville, was arrested and charged with one count of Possession of a Schedule II Narcotic, one count of Unauthorized use of a Motor Vehicle, and one count of Improper Telephone Communications. Bond has not been set and Phillips remains in the VPSO jail.

April 24, 2025

Bertis Brown, age 67, of Pitkin, was arrested and charged with one count of Violation of a Protective Order. Bond was set at $5,000. Brown posted bond and was released.

April 26, 2026

Damon Bissonnette, age 29, of Pitkin, was arrested and charged with one count of Domestic Abuse Battery. Bond has not been set and Bissonnette remains in the VPSO jail.

Bertis Brown, age 67, of Pitkin, was arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated Assault. Bond has not been set and Brown remains in the VPSO jail.
