Early Thursday, Sept. 18, at approximately 1 a.m., the Sandy Hill Fire Department, along with multiple agencies from across Vernon Parish and Beauregard Parish, responded to a commercial structure fire in the 100 block of Pinewood Road to assist Rosepine Fire Department.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed two buildings inside the pole mill already on fire. Crews immediately began suppression efforts and were able to contain the blaze to the two affected buildings, both of which sustained significant damage.

Agencies on scene included Rosepine Fire, Sandy Hill Fire Department, New Llano Fire Department, Savage Forks Fire Department, Sundown Fire Department, Caney Fire Department, Beauregard Parish Fire District 4, Acadian Ambulance, BECI, the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal.
