Vernon Parish’s lakes and rivers provide excellent fishing opportunities year-round. Fall is the perfect time to slow down and enjoy peaceful mornings on the water. Mic’d Up Movie Night
Kick off September with an evening of fun at the Fort Polk Outdoor Stage. On Saturday, Sept. 6, the night begins at 5 pm with karaoke followed by a screening of Pitch Perfect. The event runs until 10 pm and promises a lively night filled with music and laughter under the stars.

Durhl Davis One-Man Exhibit
Art lovers can experience the work of Anacoco artist, Durhl Davis, in a special one-man show at Gallery One Ellleven. The exhibit opens with a reception on Saturday, Sept. 13, at 6 pm and will remain on display through Saturday, Oct. 18. Visitors will enjoy a mix of Flemish style and alla prima paintings that highlight traditional subjects and technique.

Louisiana Maneuvers of 1941
History comes alive at the Vernon Parish Library with a program on the Louisiana Maneuvers of 1941. On Wednesday, Sept. 17, from 10-11:30 am, guest speaker Rickey Robertson will guide visitors through the story of how more than 400,000 soldiers trained across Louisiana in preparation for World War II. This fascinating event sheds light on how the maneuvers shaped the military and local communities.

West Louisiana Forestry Festival
Celebrate the region’s forestry heritage at the West Louisiana Forestry Festival. The event runs from Wednesday, Oct. 1 through Sunday, Oct. 5, and features a parade, carnival rides, livestock shows, food vendors, and live music. It is a tradition that brings the entire community together to honor the forest industry in Vernon Parish at the West Louisiana Forestry Fairgrounds.
