The Vernon Parish Animal Shelter announced that adoption fees are being waived through August 31 for dogs already spayed or neutered.
Shelter officials said the decision was made to help ease overcrowding, as the facility continues to receive new dogs while many long-term residents remain without homes. The shelter currently has a variety of dogs and puppies available for adoption.
Residents are encouraged to visit the shelter to meet the available pets and find a match. The shelter is open until 6 p.m. daily.
