Corvias unveils landmark onsite power generation project at Fort Polk, benefitting 1,800 military homes

Corvias, a trusted infrastructure and resiliency partner to the military and higher education, in collaboration with CRC Innovations and Onyx Renewables, unveiled a 13-megawatt (MW) power generation project at U.S. Army Garrison Fort Polk, Louisiana. This initiative supports the Department of Defense’s (DOD) mission-readiness goals requiring energy resiliency, reliability, and self-sufficiency across U.S. military installations.

The project is expected to produce approximately 17,537 megawatt-hours (MWh) annually:

  • This output will meet the electricity needs of approximately 40% of the installation’s housing community, including nearly 1,800 military homes.
  • To date, Corvias has invested over $60M in Fort Polk energy projects ($33M in energy efficiency; $29.2M in solar energy).
  • The company has also invested over $370M into the local economy, with nearly 70% of the partnership’s dollars going to local businesses.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony and virtual roundtable were held to mark the project’s completion. During the roundtable, Denise Hauck, President, DOD Business, Corvias, shared that the innovation project will help the Army move toward multiple goals affecting not just installation performance, but also combat readiness.

“This is one of the largest solar fields in the military housing portfolio, so we are quite proud of that,” Hauck explained. “Our Army partner’s goal is to be combat-ready through localized, secure, and independent power generation. What we are doing here today will help them move forward in achieving that.”

Bartosz Wojszczyk, President, CRC Innovations, also explained during the roundtable, “Energy is a strategic imperative to the DOD and the U.S. Army. We focused on supporting, through Corvias, our Army partners in delivering energy resiliency infrastructure both on the power generation side and in the overall energy space. In addition to improving resiliency for military residents, the project also provides energy savings and efficiency to our Army partners.”

Corvias plans to expand the energy generation capacity by an additional 15-18 MW during the next phase, with the aim of achieving 100% renewable electricity use for housing. The on-site power generation is planned to be integrated into future microgrid projects to ensure a continuous power supply.
