Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a hit and run crash on July 3 around 1:14 am on U.S. Highway 171 near Parker’s Welding south of Entrance Road.

The initial investigation revealed that a pedestrian was walking on the southbound shoulder of U.S. Highway 171. For reasons still under investigation, an unknown southbound vehicle exited the roadway and struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Troopers are asking anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the unknown vehicle to call Troop E at (318) 487-5911. Vehicle in question: 2010-2014 Chevrolet Equinox, dark in color, with damage to the right side of the vehicle. The crash remains under investigation.
