From the Toledo Bend Project Joint Operation Advisory #2, dated Thursday, May 8
Reservoir elevation at 3 a.m. Thursday was 172.36 feet. Both generators are operating 24 hours a day. If the reservoir continues to rise, spillway gates will have to be opened. The spillway will release when the elevation reaches 172.5 feet.
The Sabine River basin, below the reservoir, is in danger of reaching flood stage with any spillway opening.
Residents below the lake should continue to monitor sheriffs’ websites or srala-toledo.com.
Toledo Bend is not a flood control reservoir and can experience significant rises in elevation in short periods of time.
Residents are urged to take caution and plan accordingly.
