Early Week Busy for Area First Responders

Monday, May 5, was busy for local fire departments and first responders.

The Sundown Fire Department sent units at approximately 5:45 p.m. to assist in battling a structure fire on Highway 465, near the Alco community.  They provided a water tanker and assisted units already on hand.

Sundown FD, at 9:30 p.m., assisted the Leesville Fire Department with a structure fire that had broken out at the old Baggs Monument location, just north of Sonic Drive In. The blaze was quickly contained.

A fire truck was involved in a roll-over accident at approximately 9:45 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 171 and Fertitta Blvd.  The two firefighters in the truck were transported by ambulance to a local hospital and were treated for minor injuries before being released.

Then on the evening of Tuesday, May 6, a structure fire broke out at approximately 7 p.m. on Hwy. 111 in Burr Ferry, between the Fox Stop and Tidbits & Tackle.  Evans Fire Department was first on the scene with other departments assisting.  No other information was available at press time.
