Leesville Powerlifting Team Wins National Title

Josh Hewitt, Outstanding Male Senior Lifter

The Leesville High School powerlifting team stepped up to the national level for the very first time last weekend, under the United State Powerlifting Association, and showed they were ready.  They won their first ever High School Classic RAW National Powerlifting Championships at the University of New Orleans.

Coach Derek Toro’s squad included 11 girls and 3 boys and they totaled 12 first place finishes, 2 seconds, 46 USPA State records and 10 USPA National records. Four individuals received Outstanding Lifter Awards.

The Leesville team included; Samuel Hewitt, Josh Hewitt (Outstanding Male Senior Lifter), Cameron Reeks (Outstanding Male Sophomore Lifter), Emma Carver, Aubree Anable, Elena Johnson, Isabell Williams (Outstanding Female Senior Lifter), Hope Sims, McKenzie McNeal, Quaniya Perry, Jaelyn Hood, Hali Reagan, and Sydney Fitzgerald (Outstanding Female Sophomore Lifter).

Congratulations to the LHS powerlifting team on their achievements.  Their efforts and those of Pickering, (Vernon Parish Journal, April 30 ed.), are helping to spread the word locally about powerlifting.
