The Pickering High School powerlifting team sent 13 lifters to the U.S. Powerlifting High School Nationals last weekend at the University of New Orleans.  The team of Red Devil lifters won the Equipped Division National Title.  Team members included; Ava Nixon, Alyssa Brown, Abby Kunath, Lindsey Bartlett, Layla Anthony, Ethan Brown, Ricardo Sastre, Braden Ford, Hunter Noel, Landon Noel, Agustus James, Alex Austin and Xavier Mitchell.

Every lifter set state, national, even some world records.  This is the second season in a row for the Pickering Powerlifters to win at nationals.  The LHSAA held their state meet in March, and several Pickering athletes placed and earned medals.

Coaches John Daugherty, Katy Neighbors and Jimmy Neighbors look forward to the 2026 powerlifting season when they will host an invitational meet and the 2026 Central Boys Regional.

No results were available, but the Leesville High Powerlifting team recently won the USPA RAW Nationals.  The sport is catching on in West Central Louisiana.
