Alex Maksiov and Tetiana Talanova of the Ukraine visited GALLERY ONE EIIIEVEN last week and provided the gift of a new mural in the Texas Street Pocket Park. Titled The Muralist, the 3D image of a female peering from a window with loaded paint brush extended was done in celebration of their exhibit of work at GALLERY ONE EIIIEVEN this month. Alex holds the distinction of having produced the largest public mural in the Ukraine. Along with Houston based Israeli muralist Anat Ronen, samples of their mural work will be on display in the gallery until April 26, when a closing reception will be held in conjunction with ART OF THE EAT 3-LOUISIANA EATS.
The Muralist is an image that is done in 3D format. There is a spot on the sidewalk outside the park that is the optimum viewing spot to create the 3D experience. Your height also makes a difference for the illusion to be complete. Inside the gallery you can find postcards featuring other works from these artists and contact information to do mural and public art projects in businesses and homes.
The response from the public for the gallery public mural projects has been tremendous. GALLERY ONE ElllEVEN thanks the building owners, Traci Watson and Katie Beard, for their assistance in the project. A Mural and Chalk Art Workshop for artists across the state is in the works for the fall at GALLERY ONE EIIIEVEN.
Tickets for the April 26 ART OF THE EAT event are on sale at the gallery and from gallery members. Tickets will be available at the door on that day.
