Vernon Parish Basketball Update

With just a handful of games left before post season play begins, some area teams are honing up for a run at the state championships.  Here are the latest results from girls’ and boys’ teams from around the parish.

ANACOCO   The Lady Indians (17-9) have won six of their last seven games and won at Ebarb Tuesday night, 66-44. They host South Beauregard tonight at 6 p.m.  The Anacoco boys are 15-16 on the year.

EVANS   The Lady Eagles (4-23) but have won two in a row.  They defeated Stanley Tuesday night, 53-16 and visit Pleasant Hill tonight at 6pm.  The Evans boys fell to 2-24 on the year with a 68-43 loss to Stanley.  They play at Pleasant Hill tonight.

HICKS   The Lady Pirates (12-18) fell to Zwolle on Tuesday 55-51.  They play in Many on Monday.  The Hicks boys have won seven of their last eight and spanked Zwolle Tuesday night 65-50.  Their record is now 26-6.

LEESVILLE   The Leesville girls have won six of their last seven games to move to 12-9 on the year.  They played at Oak Hill last night; no score was available at press time.  The Wampus Cats have gotten hot lately, winning five of their last seven, including a 12-point win over DeRidder.  The Cats (9-10) play DeRidder again, tonight at 7 p.m.

PICKERING   The Pickering girls beat Vinton Tuesday night, 54-20.  They are now 16-8 the season and play at Negreet tonight.  The Pickering boys (15-9) have dropped two straight, falling to Negreet, 76-41.

PITKIN    The Lady Tigers have won five of their last six to move to 17-13 on the year. They beat Elizabeth, 64-41 and host Reeves tonight.  The Pitkin boys won their 20th game of the year beating Elizabeth Tuesday, 94-33.  They welcome Reeves tonight at 7 p.m.

ROSEPINE   The Lady Eagles have won five in a row (16-9) including a 56-31 win over East Beauregard.  They play at Vinton tonight.  The Rosepine boys have a 21-3 record and are ranked in the Top 5 among Division III Select schools.  They defeated East Beauregard 80-52 on Tuesday and play at Vinton tonight.

SIMPSON   The Lady Broncos are 32-2 and ranked #1 among Class C schools in the state.  They beat Florien Monday, 62-49 and play at Hornbeck tonight at 6pm.  The Broncos have lost 10 in a row (7-20) including, a 55-44 decision at Florien.  They play Hornbeck tonight at 7 p.m.
