We have all heard the carol The 12 Days of Christmas.  It’s an old English kind of thing!

So, in homage to the season, here are 12 favorite Christmas things of the Vernon Parish Journal staff…in no particular order.

1. Seeing an old friend or family member; a friendly face that makes you smile!
2. Stress-free shopping…is there really such a thing?
3. Your favorite holiday foods and plenty of them.
4. The stillness and serenity of the season.
5. Hearing your favorite Christmas carol in a new arrangement and liking it!
6. Getting a gift you really wanted but had not told anyone about! Santa lives!
7. Children’s faces on Christmas morning…say no more!
8. A Cyber-Monday deal that really does blow your mind.
9. Sharing a tender moment with a loved one.
10. An ever-so-slight respite from work.
11. Really getting away from the maddening crowd.
12. A gift that makes you feel like a kid again!

As another favorite tune says … ‘these are a few of my favorite things!’
