Vernon Parish District Attorney, Terry Lambright, reports the recent sentencing of David Self, 47, of 2812 Cypress Church Road, DeRidder Louisiana. Self pled guilty in December 2023 to two counts of oral sexual battery, two counts of molestation of a juvenile, and one count of computer-aided solicitation of a minor. After entering his plea, Self filed motions asking to withdraw his plea, but those were denied by the court.
On September 25, 2024, Self appeared before the Honorable Judge Tony Bennett, where he was sentenced to serve 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections on each of the counts. Each count is to run consecutive to each other and is without benefit of suspension. “He took advantage of a minor child. This is simply unacceptable behavior, and I am very pleased to know that he received 50 years in prison for his conduct. I would like to thank the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office for the hard work they did investigating this case, as well as Assistant District Attorney Wayne Bush for putting it all together and getting a just conviction. I will continue to do everything in my power to keep the citizens of this parish safe”.
