
Veterans Day will be celebrated this year on Saturday, November 11, across our country. Locally there are several ceremonies the public is invited to attend.
The official ceremony on Ft. Johnson will be Thursday, November 9, at 10 a.m. It will take place in the First Battalion, 5th Aviation Regiment hanger. Instant access to the post is available by stopping at the Visitor’s Center on the Entrance Road and obtaining a visitor’s pass.
VFW Old Stage Post 3106 and their Auxiliary in Leesville invite area residents to their Annual Veterans Day Ceremony Saturday, November 11, at 11 a.m. The event occurs at the Veterans Memorial Square on Third Street in downtown Leesville. Several other veterans service organizations will also participate in this event. Guest speaker at the ceremony will be Brigadier General David W. Gardner, Commanding General of Ft Johnson and the JRTC.
An open community lunch will be served immediately following the ceremony at VFW 3106 Old Stage Post, 205 East Harriet Street in Leesville.
Parents are reminded that all schools in the Vernon Parish school district will hold a Veterans Day program. The public is invited. Parents, check with your students to see when their schools’ programs will be held.
