Nationwide attention is focused on women’s health during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. Breast cancer remains one of the top concerns for feminine health and a leading killer of women, but men can get breast cancer, too. The City of Leesville issued a proclamation two weeks ago in recognition of the month.
Two events in support of awareness are taking place locally.
The Annual Breast Cancer Awareness “Go Pink” Run/Walk will start at 6:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 17 on Ft Johnson. This event is open to all service members, families, and community members. The starting point for the activity is the 25-Meter Pool parking lot on Alabama Avenue.
Wednesday, October 18, from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital presents their annual Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon at the Warrior Center on post. ALL SURVIVORS are welcome to enjoy lunch and a program of guest speakers. For information and to get invitations to survivors, contact Ha Tina Allen at hatina.r.allen.civ@health.mil.
