Breast Cancer Awareness Month Activities

Nationwide attention is focused on women’s health during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.  Breast cancer remains one of the top concerns for feminine health and a leading killer of women, but men can get breast cancer, too.  The City of Leesville issued a proclamation two weeks ago in recognition of the month.

Two events in support of awareness are taking place locally.

The Annual Breast Cancer Awareness “Go Pink” Run/Walk will start at 6:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 17 on Ft Johnson.  This event is open to all service members, families, and community members.  The starting point for the activity is the 25-Meter Pool parking lot on Alabama Avenue.

Wednesday, October 18, from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital presents their annual Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon at the Warrior Center on post.  ALL SURVIVORS are welcome to enjoy lunch and a program of guest speakers.  For information and to get invitations to survivors, contact Ha Tina Allen at
