Fort Polk gates temporarily closed following security threat report

Officials at Fort Polk responded to reports of a potential security threat on the installation March 9, temporarily closing access control points while law enforcement conducted a search.

According to Joint Readiness Training Center and Fort Polk, gates to the installation were closed out of an abundance of caution as authorities carried out a thorough search of the area.

After completing the search, officials said no evidence of a credible threat was found. All installation gates have since reopened and normal operations have resumed.

Installation leaders thanked Soldiers, families, civilian employees and community members for their patience and cooperation while security personnel responded to the report, adding that the safety and security of the Fort Polk community remains the installation’s top priority.
