Habitual Drug Offender Gets 60 Years in Vernon Parish Court

Vernon Parish District Attorney Terry Lambright announced this week the sentencing of Courtland Emmanuel King, age 30, of Alexandria, Louisiana.  King was stopped and eventually arrested for drugs by a Louisiana State Trooper March 12, 2021.  King was convicted in the 30th Judicial District Court and deemed a habitual offender due to his numerous prior felony convictions.

King appeared before Judge C. Anthony Eaves for sentencing Tuesday, March 26.  Eaves noted the extensive criminal history of the defendant and sentenced him to 60 years with the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections.

The case was prosecuted by assistant District Attorney Heath Dillon.  District Attorney Lambright said, “Drugs continue to be a concern for our community.  I will do everything in my power to fight this problem.  My commitment to make Vernon Parish safe will not stop.”
