There’s nothing quite like live music, from the light sounds of a string concerto to a bellowing brass band.

SouthWest Jazz invites all music lovers out Friday, February 2, at 7:00 p.m. in the Wooten Theater in downtown DeRidder. This is the group’s first show of the year, open to the public, and free. SouthWest Jazz is composed of music and band directors from across six parishes in Southwest and West Central Louisiana. In addition to teaching, they most love to play. The group plays multiple shows across the area yearly.

The show February 2 will include swing music tunes from the 40s and 50s. SouthWest Jazz features a four-piece rhythm section and usually 12-15 various horn players. The concert is free and open to the public.
