In Remembrance: Avis Wallet Blair

Funeral services for Avis Wallet Blair will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Simpson Baptist Church with Reverends Jeremy Blocker and Rob Fleshman officiating. The burial will follow in Comrade Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. The pallbearers will be Ben Blair, Darran Collins, Justin Collins, Daniel Lottinger, Bradley Lottinger, and Andrew Lottinger.  A visitation will be held at Simpson Baptist Church on Wednesday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Avis was born October 24, 1926, in Temple, Louisiana, and passed away October 30, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones at the age of 97. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who created a loving home for her family. She was a longtime member of Comrade Baptist Church and attended Simpson Baptist Church. Avis was artistic and blessed with creativity that she used to quilt, sew, and crochet. She was a member of the Slagle Senior Citizen Quilting Group. Dancing was another activity that she enjoyed, especially square dancing. Avis and her husband, C.W., were members of the Red Diamond Swingers Square Dance Club. Her heart was family-oriented, and she would keep them in line because she loved them so much.

Avis was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Carlvon Wesley “C.W.” Blair; parents, Raymond Wallet & Mary Jane Powell Wallet; and all her siblings.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Jerry Blair and wife Diane of Simpson; daughter, Patsy Collins of Simpson; grandchildren, Darran Collins and wife Dawn, Justin Collins and wife Girly, Gary Daigle, and Candi Lottinger and husband Dan; great-grandchildren, Katelyn Collins, Emily Collins, Bradley Lottinger, Andrew Lottinger, Alex, Wesley, and Allie Collins; and a host of extended family members and friends.
