Owen Nathaniel North, 63, passed from this life on October 7th at his home in Slagle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Lillian North, and brother, Philip North.
Owen is survived by his sister Margaret Rascoe, sister-in-law Jamie North, niece Twila Alford (Rand), nephews Paul and Jonathan North, 5 great nephews, and his dog Simba.
After graduation from Leesville High School in 1978, Owen went to work for KCS. He recently retired as an engineer after a long career on the railroad and was embarking on a new path with the USPS as a mail carrier. Owen was happily making his retirement home on beloved family property in Slagle. He was a kind and generous man who enjoyed music, poetry, literature, history and the pursuit of knowledge. Owen was a considerate guest always arriving with a gift, an interesting book, or a tidbit about his latest interest. Conversation and correspondence with him was an exercise in the increasingly lost art of etiquette.
Always an extremely private individual, there will be no memorial service per his request, with his final remains given to the seas.
