Funeral services for Marvis Llano “Scottie” Chance, 75, of Hornbeck, were held at 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 30, 2023, in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville with Bro. Dave Stewart officiating.
Visitation took place Saturday afternoon, September 30, in the funeral home.
Marvis Llano “Scottie” Chance entered Heavenly rest on September 26, 2023. He was born June 25, 1948, to Wyvon and Lois Chance.
Marvis is survived by sisters, Carolyn and husband David Waddell; Wendy and husband Marc Gonzalez; daughters, Lila Chance-Crabtree, Patchile and husband Jim Russell; Rebecca and husband Jesse Reynolds; sons, Wyvon Samuel Henry Chance; Charles Gene Chance and wife Amber; and Robert Floyd Chance; grandchildren, Blake Cripps, Kealee Rooker, Jenna White, Alyssa Russell, Quinlee Chance, Logan McWhorter, Trenton McWhorter, Gabriel Reynolds, Jace Reynolds, and Madalynn Reynolds.
He served his country in the U. S Army and Louisiana Army National Guard for 25 years. While the Executive Director of the Vernon Council on Aging, he served the seniors of Vernon Parish just shy of another 25 years. During his time as the Executive Director, he also found time to teach college history classes for many years.
He was a pillar for his family and community. That foundation led to many friends and mentorships.
After the service, friends and family gathered at the Vernon Council on Aging for a small reception.
